Jr. High Math Options
The students in sixth grade are given the Saxon’s Middle Grades Placement Test.
The students’ scores on the test help to determine the level of math that would be the best placement for the student’s abilities. When there is some question about the placement of a student, the score on the last taken ISAT test is taken into consideration.

Basic 87
A complete standards-based curriculum that is structured for learning. Mastery is long-term achieved through time to learn, time to process, and time to practice.
Pre-Algebra
Algebra 1/2 represents a culmination of pre-algebra mathematics, covering all topics normally taught in pre-algebra, as well as additional topics from geometry and discrete mathematics (used in engineering and computer sciences).
Algebra I
The main goal of Algebra I is to develop fluency in working with linear equations. Students will extend their experiences with tables, graphs, and equations and solve linear equations and inequalities and systems of linear equations and inequalities. Students will generate equivalent expressions and use formulas. Students will simplify polynomials and begin to study quadratic relationships. Students will use technology and models to investigate and explore mathematical ideas and relationships and develop multiple strategies for analyzing complex situations. Students will analyze situations verbally, numerically, graphically, and symbolically. Students will apply mathematical skills and make meaningful connections to life?s experiences.
